REPORT OF GANDHI STUDY CIRCLE 2015 – 16

  2015 – 16 was an eventful year for the Gandhi Study Circle of Kalindi College. Beside others it organized many activities in collaboration with National Gandhi Museum, Rajghat.

 On Wednesday, 14.10.2015 twelve students were taken to the Conference Centre, Delhi University to attend a lecture organized by Gandhi Bhawan, Delhi University. The occasion was the completion of hundred years of Gandhiji’s return from South Africa. The topic was GANDHIJI AUR SATYA and the special lecturewas delivered by Prof. Dinesh Singh, the then Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi.

 On Friday 15.1.2016, fifty two students went to National Gandhi Museum, Rajghatto view a photo exhibition on MAHATAMA GANDHI AND HIS ASHRAMS. The girls viewed pictures of Ashramas established by Gandhiji in India and abroad. They also saw the replica of HRIDAYA KUNJ of Sabarmati Ashrama situated in the premises of National Gandhi Museum and were impressed by the simple lifestyle of the Father of the Indian Nation.The Museum also screened a documentary GANDHI – EK JIWANI for the students. After the movie there was a question answer session. Influenced by Gandhian thought and philosophy, the girls asked many questions which were answered by the Director, National Gandhi Museum.

     On Friday 29.1.2016, the National Gandhi Museum organized a daylong event A DAY WITH GANDHI for the students of Kalindi College. Forty two students of our college attended the program. The students reached the Museum at 10 a.m. when an exhibition of drawings, paintings and prints by SURAJ SUDAN on FACES OF PEACE AND FREEDOM was inaugurated. After thatthe students attended the event which started at 11.00 a.m. with an introduction to Museum. At 11.30 a.m. there was an Inaugural Function followed by a visit to the museum. The students were then taught to spin on the Charkha at HridayaKunj. After the delicious lunch provided by the Museum students were shown a documentary film on Gandhiji. An interaction session followed where students cleared their doubts about the relevance of Gandhian philosophy today. At 4.00 p.m. certificates were given to students who participated in the event.

     On Wednesday 24.2.2016, the college organized a talk and a power point presentation of Mr. Annamalai, Director National Gandhi Museum in the college.The function was held in the SANGAM PARISAR. The program started with the lighting of lamp by Mr. Annamalai and Mr. Ansar Ali. It was followed by favorite Bhajan of Gandhiji melodiously sung by the students and Ms. Anuradhaof music department of our college. Mr. Annamalai then gave a thought provoking lecture and a power point presentation on GANDHIJI FOR YOUNG GENERATION. Mr. Ansar Ali, curator, National Gandhi Museum, then expressed his views on Gandhiji. Afterwards students asked many questions and cleared their doubts. Literature on Gandhiji was also distributed to the students by the guests. The program ended with a vote of thanks to the guests.
