The Kalindi College NCWEB centre has been functional in this college to impart education to the students who come to take classes in the centre on Sundays and during the vacation/semester break of the regular students. The centre, ever since its inception, strives to forge morally and educationally strong and socially productive citizens of our nation. This belief has been ancestral in our nation as the visionaries of our of our nation’s past, who forged our nation, also believed that both physical and mental strength is requisite in the citizen of a strong nation. NCWEB, Kalindi College Centre has always taken the necessary measures to maintain pedagogical excellence as well as a balanced exposure of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for its students.
Presently, this centre has been imparting education in two courses viz: B.A (Programme) and B.Com (Programme), wherein, 41 teachers have been engaged. The teaching was divided into two terms: Term I from July/August to December, 2015 and Term II from Jan, 2016 to April 2016. The centre organized various competitions like Rangoli, Mehndi, Poster Making, Face Making, Tatoo Making, Best out of Waste Material, Debate Competition, Dance competition and Song competition. The students participated in various completions held in other NCWEB centres and won prizes. This year (2015-16) the admission process was decentralized and Kalindi College was one of the centres where admissions forms were sold and collected. Dr. Anula Maurya, Principal, Kalindi College, made it mandatory to attend the Self Defence Classes for all NCWEB Students. Consequently, a large number of students participated in the training, organized by the Delhi Police. During the training, a talk of one hour duration was organized by the Director’s office, on issues relating to Women Empowerment, Legal acquaintance, Career Counseling, Ayurveda etc., where a lot of students participated and got benefitted. A Farewell Cum Annual Day has been scheduled on 29.04.2016. The 1524 total students enrolled in the year 2015-16. The centre tries to give immense exposure to the students both in academic and extra- curricular activities, making them closer to the regular students.
Fresher’s Party Kalindi College centre NCWEB, organized a fresher’s party on 17th Jan 2016 under guidance of Dr. Aarti Singh, Teacher-In- Charge of the centre, and under encouraging presence of Dr. Anju Gupta, Director of NCWEB and Principal Dr. Anula Maurya, both of whom graced the occasion with their august presence. The function was an unprecedented initiative of the promotion of Indian folk culture in Delhi University because there was no Bollywood song used in the song or dance performances delivered in the whole function. The event was compered by Ms. Baljit and Dr. Pukhraaj Janghid. This function promoted unity in diversity of Indian culture: a defining trait characteristic only of India and this was expressed by the folk mediums of song and dance like: Saraswati Vandana, folk songs of Haryana, Tappa: Punjabi folk song, Ghoomar and Kaalbelia: Rajasthani folk dances, Kumaoni folk song, Laavni Maharashtrian folk dance, and performance of Yoga postures by the students. Ms. Rama Bansal presented a powerpoint presentation which showcased the centre’s academic and extra-curricular activities and a documentary film “Bhroon Hathya” on female foeticide was also presented by her. Ms. Sanjana and Mr. Bharat Pawar produced a skit on drug addiction titled “Nashaa: Ek Abhishaap” Several students talked about their experiences as NCWEB students and others recited self-composed poetry on themes like gender discrimination and female foeticide.
Dr. Anju Gupta, Director of NCWEB and Principal Dr. Anula Maurya, both spoke words of praise and encouraged the students, faculty members and the non-teaching staff. The programme was evidently a resounding success. Annual Sport’s Day Kalindi college NCWEB organized Annual sport’s Day at sports ground of the college. At the occasion of Sport’s Day various sports activities were organized. Large number of students and Teachers participated with full enthusiasm. Extra Curricular Activities The centre organized various competitions like Rangoli, Mehndi, Poster Making, Face Making, Tatoo Making, Best out of Waste Material, Debate Competition, Dance competition and Song competition. The students participated in various completions held in other NCWEB centres and won prizes. Such programs are organized so as to generate the feeling of fraternity among seniors and juniors and also to make the students acquainted with the teachers and the college.
