The NSS Unit of Kalindi college organized various events during the year 2017-18. The year began with the organization of a lecture on importance of yoga by Dr. Sunita Sharma to mark the celebration of 3rd International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2017. It was followed by live demonstration of various asanas which can be regularly performed at home and are also helpful in various health problems such as diabetes, blood pressure, thyroid, survical etc. All the participants energetically followed all the instructions and wholeheartedly performed various asanas.
The NSS unit of Kalindi College marked the beginning of Swachhta Abhiyaan Pakhwara (1stAugust- 15th August, 2017) with students taking an oath of not just contributing towards cleanliness at individual level but also to make others aware of the need of cleanliness. Further Cleanliness Drive took place in the college premises. The volunteers along with two faculty members visited one of the slum areas, the Kathputli Colony (near Shadipur Depot) and initiated a door-to door awareness campaign engaging in conversation with the residents of colony. Few volunteers visited ‘Shadipur Depot’ bus stand. They participated in the cleanliness of the bus stand and also inculcated the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public places.
Every year 24th September is celebrated as NSS Day. Our NSS wing celebrated the 12th NSS Day on the theme of “NOT ME BUT YOU”. Competition on NSS Motto Writing was held in our college. Many volunteers enthusiastically participated and made beautiful posters with innovative quotes and artistry. The NSS day celebration through noble initiatives came to an end with a common oath taking ordinance.
The Unity Day was celebrated on 31st October, 2017. It was initiated with Unity pledge taken by 70 NSS volunteers and it was followed by Unity Run. An essay writing and poster making competition were also organized.
A documentary on Swami Vivekananda's life journey and his teachings was screened on National Youth Day i.e. 12th January, 2018. Few students volunteered to share their take on Swami Vivekananda and his lifelong teachings.
A Nitaai Sound Yoga Workshop was organized by NSS unit, Kalindi College in collaboration with Anti Stress Foundation on 17th January 2018.The first speaker, Ms. Alta Bhalla introduced the students to the basic concept and informed the students about the adverse effects of stress on the body and of Nitaai breathing in calming down the mind and removing stress. After that, Ms. Aabha conducted a live session of Nitaai meditation for 15 minutes. The students chanted the sound of ‘Nitaai’ under their guidance along with musical notes.
On 25th January an oath of Voter’s Day was taken by 100 NSS volunteers in the August Kranti Park of Kalindi College. They pledged to uphold the democratic traditions and to vote fearlessly and without being influenced by anything.
A winter clothes collection drive was organized from 29th January to 31St January in college premises wherein the teachers, staff and students contributed winter clothes generously. After that the NSS team went to R.K. Ashram Marg to distribute the clothes to the needy people.
The volunteers have further planned a visit to Arya Mahila Ashram, an old age home in the end of March and the NSS Annual Fest- NEEV in beginning of April, 2018.
