This Department has been working as an integral part from the very beginning of various courses in the college that comes under Bachelor of Science in General and/or Life Sciences Stream.       *This course has been introduced under FYUP (Four Year Under Graduate Programme) in academic year 2013-14, however, it is discontinued in academic year 2014-15 due to roll back of FYUP, now this course in running under erstwhile FYUP programme.

Introduction of new courses (B. Sc. Honours Zoology) in 2016-17: After discontinuation of Honours course in academic year 2014-15 and the Departmenthad applied for B.Sc. Zoology (Honours), through College authorities to University of Delhi, as per the proposal, an Experts Committee from parent Department (Department of Zoology, University of Delhi) has visited the Zoology Department and recommended for the course, further the proposal has been approved by University of Delhi for the same.

Getting into the natural realms of plant and animal life, it is an in-depth study of biodiversity of animals and plants and their conservation, behaviour, morphology, physiology, embryology, environmental management and applied biology. An understanding of cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, Immunology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics will form the basis for research in recombinant DNA technology, DNA fingerprinting, Gene cloning, Drug discovery, Drug designing , Vaccines , diagnostics and forensics. The course aims at enhancing awareness and imparting knowledge on prevailing global issues of conservation, environmental and ecological issues that affect sustainability.
